Membership

Membership Requirements

New applicants are expected to have a basic knowledge of the methods of working with clay to create pieces of pottery or sculpture using wheel or hand-building techniques. They must submit a minimum of 3 finished pieces to be juried by the executive committee. As a new member, the membership fee is made up of an initiation fee, a prorated membership fee, a library fee, a shelf and key fee, and a compulsory hands-on introductory session on the working practices of the studio.

Claycrafters cannot function without each member taking on some responsibility. The estimated amount of time donated by each member is about 12-24 hours per year. It is important that everyone pitch in.  We cannot rely solely on a few volunteers for the upkeep of the studio and its administration.

Members will sign up to do tasks (cleaning, sale setup, etc.) that require little experience, but that are very necessary. Experienced members will help new members learn how we function and what the different opportunities are.

Unfortunately, if a potter cannot take on any job, they can no longer be a member.

Please note that applications are accepted from January 1 to January 31 only.

Priority will be given to residents of Pointe-Claire
